The case of a missing bride from the South Indian state of Kerala who disappeared within 24 hours after she landed in Dubai six years ago is again gaining media attention.

This was one of the first calls that was made to the new round-the-clock complaint hotline that was launched on Friday morning by the Kerala State Chief Minster Oommen Chandy.

Smitha, a 24-year-old computer graduate had arrived in Dubai on August 1 in 2005 but went missing the very next day.

Her husband, Sabu Anthony had then alleged that his wife had explained in a two-page letter that she was eloping with her boyfriend.

But the girl’s parents have been blaming the husband since. A case was registered with the Dubai Police.

Interestingly, Oommen Chandy was the Chief Minister of the state when the incident occurred in 2005.

Following the complaint Chandy following a discussion with the Karala’s Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose announced the State’s Crime Branch would be entrusted with further investigation of the case.

The 24-hour call centre can be used to submit complaints or suggestions and can be accessed from around the world.

It can be reached on the toll free number 1800 425 1076. Complaints can also be submitted in writing through the website
