The cost of air tickets from Kerala to the UAE have gone through the roof with airlines running full flights thanks to the holiday traffic.
A one-way ticket on Emirates between Kochi in Kerala and Dubai peaked at over Dh3,000 on select days this week, while the cost of budget airlines like Air Arabia crossed Dh2,000 per trip.
Yet flights of almost all airlines flying on the route are running full with no seats available during the next three days.
According to Dnata the cheapest next available flight to Dubai from Kochi is on Kingfisher airlines on September 2, Friday, priced at Dh3,000.
The cheapest available this week is on Jet Airways at Dh2,200 on September 5.
On Emirates all flights this week are full with business class tickets on some days priced at Dh4,253.
The next available economy class ticket (as of Thursday morning) on Emirates is on September 17 and is priced at Dh2,069.
An economy class ticket on Air India from Kochi to Sharjah is only available on September 15 and is priced at Dh1,680 (Rs20,883).
“It will change. This price is available at 10am. You call me in the evening and the flight would either be full or the price would have gone up by Dh200,” said Srinivas of Maheshwar Travels in Deira.
A combination of Eid, the south Indian festival of Onam and school holidays drawing to a close here in the UAE have made air travel an exorbitant proposition right now.
